Permalink are used to give your blog post or pages an address which will not change i.e. permanent and human readable, permalinks are also very SEO friendly. To enable permalink for your blog or website just go to settings – permalink – and use any of the four permalink option or use custom. Now check your website if your links shows 404 page not found error after using permalink, then you must check the properties of .htaccess file using ftp account. Make sure that write access is enabled on it. Disable the permalink to default setting and save it. Now again go to permalink and use whatever setting you want. All the links will work this time.
